The process of installing a home elevator

An elevator is a system that operates closely between devices and needs to follow a certain installation process to ensure safety for users.

Family elevator installation process

Step 1: Prepare

  • Check the floor doors, remove obstacles in front of the floor doors, cover and install danger warning signs at necessary locations and on the way up and down.
  • Move tools and equipment to the correct construction location (Palan, Tifor, welding machine,…)
  • Prepare construction power sources:
  1. Power source location.
  2. Mains power capacity.
  3. Connect electricity to the welding machine and other necessary tools.
  • Light up the construction area.
  • Install the construction floor, check the connecting cable and put it in the correct position. The construction floor is made with dimensions depending on the well, consisting of many wooden planks > 20 mm thick glued together, the frame uses purlins > (100 x 120) mm.
  • Drop safety cables along the stairwell.
  • Install Palan in necessary positions.

Step 2: Close the working platform

Step 3: Close the standard system

Step 4: Install the rail bracket

Step 5: Install rail and align

  • Install the carbin rail base and counterweight under the pith pit.
  • Position the carbine rail and counterweight to the base.
  • Install the carbine rails and counterweights next.
  • At each position where the carbin rail bracket and counterweight are installed, they will be positioned using ratchet clamps.
  • Use wrench 17 to tighten the bolts and nuts with ratchet clamps, then use the rail centering tool and rail offset tool to check the straightness and alignment of the rail compared to the positioned lead wire.
  • The distance between the two tops of the carbin rail and the counterweight must not exceed the limit of ±5 mm.

Step 6: Install the machine

  • Installation location: engine room.
  • Engine room survey
  • Use a fully loaded hoist to pull the machine into position.
  • Install the I-beam of the machine, the two ends of the I-beam are supported on the stirrups of the elevator pit frame, and there is a gusset plate installed underneath. During the process of installing the two I beams, it is necessary to check the flatness of the two I beam surfaces so that the height between the two surfaces does not exceed 2 mm, then reposition.
  • Install the machine chassis and the machine’s cushion shoes.
  • Install the machine in the correct position, check the dimensions match the drawings.
  • Install the bolts and fix the position of the machine and shoes.

Step 7: Install the counterweight frame

Step 8: Install the frame – cabin floor

Step 9: Install the cable and cable hanger

Step 10: Install the mechanical brake safely

Step 11: Install the floor door

Step 12: Install cabin walls

Step 13: Install additional parts

Step 14: Install electricity

Step 15: Acceptance of static elevator installation

After the complete installation of the elevator, the construction unit, in conjunction with the Supervision Consultant and Project Management Consultant, will conduct acceptance of the installation parts according to the following steps:

  • Check installation of equipment in the engine room area
  • Check equipment installation in the area along the elevator pit
  • Check the installation of cabin equipment
  • Check the installation of floor door equipment

Step 16: Acceptance test run without load

Run the elevator without load to check the motor, brake, stop and start, check the opening and closing of the cabin door – each floor door, check the top – bottom limit…

Step 17: Check the ladder

  • Run at slow speed to check mechanical details
  • Run at slow speed to check the cascading stop flags, upper and lower limits
  • Run at high speed and check and correct the position of the floor stop flag and limit switch

Request:

  • For floor stop flag: Maximum allowable floor deviation  ±10mm
  • For limit switches: Maximum top and bottom overruns of 30mm are allowed.
  • Check the operation of the switches
  • Check out the floor and Cabin displays

Check and try out the features:

  1. Rescue lights
  2. Rescue cabinet

Step 18: Preliminary cleaning

Clean elevator equipment, cabins, dirt, and construction mortar during construction (If any).

Step 19: Accept test run without load

After checking the elevator and preliminary cleaning, run the elevator without load and stop picking up each floor to check whether the elevator runs smoothly and stops floors correctly, and check the coordination of the elevator group.

Step 20: Acceptance of interlock test run with load

Run the elevator with load to check the overload parts and the smoothness and accuracy of stopping the elevator at the landing areas and combine to check the elevator group coordination.

Step 21: Verification

Inspect elevators according to state lifting equipment safety regulations to issue a license for use (can be combined at the same time for items 19 and 20).

Step 22: Acceptance of the elevator and handover for use

After inspecting the elevator, thoroughly clean the cabin floor and cabin walls. Check the elevator again by running the elevator at high speed up and down several times, checking the mechanical details to check that the elevator runs smoothly and stops at the correct floor.
