Design of the escalator

Structure of an escalator

The motor and chain system will be designed to be placed inside the trusses, which is a metal structure extending between two floors.

The chain rings will help the escalator move along a system of steps along the conveyor belt. Each step will have 2 sets of wheels connected together in a rotating chain. In addition to rotating the stairs, the chain ring system and electric motors in the stairs also help rotate the handrails.
